We welcomed the A Current Affair team to Cow Town and visited our neighbours in Coraki, in the Northern Rivers of NSW, to talk about our Christmas Ham donation drive.
As you may know, our region was badly hit by flooding in February this year and is still recovering today as we enter the Christmas season. With so many of our neighbours and valued employees living in the area, we wanted to be able to give back and help those who are still doing it tough as they try to rebuild their homes and lives.
As local supermarket owner Joanna Robinson said; “the flood was five days and it was over, but the aftermath is going to drag on for probably the next two years”.
Caitlin, our incredible Operations Manager here at Cow Town, and her husband, were trapped on the roof of their neighbour’s home for nine hours during the floods as they waited to be rescued. Thankfully they were taken to safety, however her home was effectively ruined and the clean up and rebuild has taken the better part of the last nine months.
We love that A Current Affair, like us, want to help our region by highlighting the fact that people are still struggling and we’re so happy that they’re helping us get our Christmas Ham donation drive out there. All we want is to bring flood-wearied families, like Caitlin’s, some joy and practical help this Christmas. We’ve known adversity ourselves through the floods and bushfires we’ve experienced on our farm, so we know what a difference a simple donation like this can make.
We’re working with our area’s disaster coordinator to ensure every donated ham goes to a family in need. We believe that giving back after such a tough year is so important and we hope these donated hams will become a little beacon of hope for those still doing it tough.
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a ham! Click here to donate today, and know you’ve made a real difference to a Northern Rivers family this Christmas.
